A Gathering Fear
Poems by
Olu Oguibe

The poems collected in A Gathering Fear I wrote between 1988 and 1992, the first part in Nigeria where they had established my reputation as a poet, and the second in England. One of the poems, "I am bound to this land" went on to become a generation anthem in Nigeria.

A Gathering Fear has been compared to the work of every major poet in the genre from Walt Whitman and Lorca to Allen Ginsberg and Mahmoud Darwish. It is also my only collected volume.

Versions of some of the poems were originally published in West Africa, The Daily Times, The Guardian, Poetry Wales, Foolscap and other publications. The first edition of A Gathering Fear is published by Boomerang Press, Bayreuth, Germany. The second edition is published by Kraft Books, Ibadan, Nigeria.

For copyright reasons, these poems are no longer available on the Internet. If you would like to obtain a copy of the book in either edition, please contact the respective publisher. You may also try Amazon.com
